Statement #25

Student Success Statement
“Education the mind
Without educating the
heart is no education at
all.”

Aristotle

Reflection: I beleive what this philosopher is trying to say is you can educate the mind, but if you don't educate the heart as well, what is the point in that, what will they do with that knowledge? If you do not educate the heart you will never choose the right because you didn't learn your morals. You didn't learn the first step on how to choose the right.

and success-CTW disconnects.”

Mr.Haymore

Statment #23

Student Success Statement
“Choosing the right is always the       right thing to do.”

Alex Linares
Reflection: The right is always the right there is no way around it. You choose the right because it is the right thing to do, not because someone made you do it. You choose the wrong and it was the wrong thing to do. For example, you decided to help an elderly person and later on someone who say you helping her asks why did you do it. She didn't do nothing for you. You answer, "No, but it was the right thing to do."

Statement #22

Student Success Statement
“It’s better to be alone than to be
in bad company.”

ANON
Reflection: I believe what this person is trying to say is that it is good to have social relationships and have friends, but what if they are not really "good,"
If these type of people are the only people you can make friends with then it is better to be alone than to have people around you that are smoking, drunk, and under the influence. They are choosing the wrong 100% of the time if they do all those things. For example, a friend offers you a smoke and you say and they stop being your friend. It is for the better that they did because you do not want any part of that life.

Statement #21

Student Success Statement
“You cannot do wrong and feel
right. It is impossible.”

Ezra T. Benson
Reflection: When you do wrong, it is wrong, there is no way to change that or take it back. You also cannot change the fact in your conscience that it was right and not wrong because then you are lying to yourself because you cannot change it. It is impossible. Say you decide to leave school to help your mom out for some reason. No matter the reason you ditched school and after that there is no way to get back in. It is impossible. The same thing with choosing the right, you cannot do right and feel wrong. It is impossible.

Statement #20

Student Success Statement
“I think it better to do right,
even if we suffer in so doing,
than to incur the reproach of
our consciences.”

Robert E. Lee
Reflection: I think what Mr. Lee is trying to say is that right is always the right and you must choose it no matter what will happen and it will come back as a cleat conscience. Say a friend offers you some alcohol and if you don't drink it he will not be our friend anymore. So you choose the right and he stops being your friend, maybe that was how it was ment to be. Since you chose the right you left some one behind to choose the wrong.

“Tell me what is right and
I will fight for it.”

Woodrow Wilson
Reflection: I believe what Mr.President is trying to say is that it is his duty to keep the counrty at peace and to keep it at peace you must choose the right always because on Capitol hill choosing the wrong has more of an impact. Mr.Wilson isn't choosing the right from his perspective, but from al of ours, we are letting him know what we want since we chose him to become president and that is the job he listed for. That is the job that 43 men applied for to become someone for the people.

“Disciplining yourself to do
what you know is right and
important, although difficult, is
the highroad to pride, self-esteem,
and personal satisfaction.”

Margaret Thatcher
Reflection: I believe what Ms. Thatcher is trying to sayis that when you finally master choosing the right it isn't a choice anymore it is a reaction, not a choice. Choices are made, reacions are without thought. It is difficult, but it comes with a prize, pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction. I belive that is the meaning of the quote. To choose the right with out choosing, is just plain right.

So Far

My Experience at HPIAM So Far

So far at this high school I like the teachers and campus, this school is much more enjoyable than my last my last school. I have more friends and I am closer to home than my middle school  I even like P.E. now because of the variety of things that we do like playing Medic, running, push-ups, curl-ups, etc. I still love science and my science teacher is very good at teaching Biology and hopefully next year I will go in to Chemistry. English is still hard but my teacher is much nicer and more caring than my last English teacher. I am starting to grasp Spanish and I am learning about the culture there and my heritage. I like Geography and Health so far, the teachers are making it easy for me with time and can really accommodate. Math is fun and the teacher is actually teaching this time, unlike my last Math teacher.
In a few days I want to join Swimming and Leadership because I love doing both. I have trained at a community pool  and I love the sport personally, and the sport is a very good workout. I also have  been in leadership for 3 years in Elementary School, so I would say that I have some experience with being in leadership and cannot wait to run for something for my sophomore year, since elections this year have already passed. So far I have gotten no D’s and F’s so that is good I got a 3.6 GPA for my first progress report and hopefully I get the same or better grades on the next progress report cards.

The Sting of the Scorpion

The "Sting" of the Scorpion is like payback from the universe when you choose the wrong sommething bad will happen always. When you choose the right you feel good and something good will happen to you. So why would you want to have something bad happen to you, why? Wouldn't you want some thing good to happen to you? A little boy went camping in the desert and his parents told him to wear shoes when he went out in to the desert. While he was camping one day, he decided to put flip-flops on and go walking, rebelling from what his parents said and he got stung by a scorpion, the universe's way of "stinging" him. I learned from this that to choose the right all the time or else I will get stung.

Statement #16

Student Success Statement
“In any moment of decision, the
best thing you can do is the
right thing.”

Theodore Roosevelt
Reflection: At anytime in your lif, deciding whether or not to have your homework done, whether or not to smoke a cigar. Just remember the best thing to do in a decision is to always choose the right. Don't smoke and do your homework little decisions, but a big impact on life. Say you decide not to do your homework, the next day you don't turn it in. You don't learn and you can never get that teaching time back.
