Statement #73

Student Success Statement
“Courage is being
scared to death and
doing the right thing
anyway.”
Chae Richardson

Reflection: I believe what he is trying to say is that

simply just overcoming your fear isn't courage

doing the right thing after you overcome your fear

is courage because anyone can get over fear but

there are few who can and will do the right thing

afterwards.

Statement #69

Student Success Statement
“He who walks with
the wise grows wise,
but a companion of
fools suffers harm.”
A Proverb

Reflection: I believe what this proverb is trying to
communicate is that we must surround our selves with our hopes and dreams because if they are there they keep reminding you to strive for them, for instance surround yourself with people that want to go to college most likely you will to. If you surround your self with people with bad hopes and dreams those dreams will become yours as well.

Statement #65

Student Success Statement
“Visualization—Imagination: What you see is what you get.”
Anonymous

Reflection: I believe what this person meant is that we can not go above our physical and mental limits. Our limits though are up to as far as we push them. We got to see what we imagine and by that we get what we see. In short, we get what we imagine. So there are boundless goals to reach and strive for. We have to aim to hit our mark and by doing that we always reach goals.

Statement #62

Student Success Statement
“Right is right, even if everyone
is against it; and wrong is wrong,
even if everyone is for it.”
William Penn

Reflection: I believe what he is trying to say is that we should choose the right when it is not the most preferable path, but we still should because choosing the wrong can only lead to mare bad things and then you fall in to a rut of choosing the bad. We must choose the right to keep choosing the right. No matter how popular choice is you must choose the right.

Statement #61

Student Success Statement
Cowardice asks the question ‘Is it safe?’
Expediency asks the question ‘Is it politic?’
Vanity asks the question ‘Is it popular?’
But, conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’ And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one’s conscience tells one that it is right.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Reflection: I think what he is trying to say is that it doesn't matter what you do is it safe or unpopular.
If the right is that choice you must abide by it. You must choose the right no matter if it unpolitical because that is all that matters in the end, whether you chose the right or not.
